President Donald Trump on Friday said he’s considering further economic sanctions against North Korea, saying they would be “at a very, very high level.”
Trump has been escalating his rhetoric against Kim Jong Un’s regime as Pyongyang has ratcheted up its missile tests and has boasted about nuclear advancements.
The United Nations Security Council last Saturday passed a resolution imposing new sanctions on North Korea for its missile program that targeted the country’s exports, including coal, iron and lead. The sanctions also targeted North Korea’s financial lifelines.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said he’s weighing further sanctions against Pyongyang.
“You could say as strong as they get,” Trump said, describing the type of sanctions his administration is considering.
