The House-passed health care bill complies with Senate rules, Republicans said Tuesday, clearing an important procedural hurdle that otherwise could have halted the Obamacare repeal process.
The Senate Budget Committee made the announcement Tuesday. The news means the House can send the repeal bill over to the Senate.
Senate Republicans plan to write their own bill, but they needed the House bill to comply with complex budget reconciliation rules that would allow the bill to pass the Senate with 51 votes, rather than the typical 60-vote threshold, ensuring Democratic support is not needed.
Democrats had warned that they thought the House bill might have had fatal flaws.
